Alison Katica Blomgren has a fresh eye. You can see it in her work. She paints with light in a way that gives each shot an ethereal feeling. Clients and stylists love working with Alison because she thrives on collaboration. Each one of her shots whether it be a simple handbag hanging on a hook or a child blowing a wish with a dandelion is carefully painted with her feminine eye and sensibility. A joy to work with, clients return to Alison time and time again to create images for their brands.
What is something you’re most proud of?
Something I'm most proud of is my life-work balance, but I have to make a very loud shout out to my husband on this one. It has been a monumental and ongoing team effort to create space in our lives for our work, passions, family and friends.
What is something people might not know about you?
Something people might not know about me is that I live in a log cabin designed and built by my father-in-law in the style of an ancient Scandinavian church.
What was your dream job as a kid?
My dream job as a kid was to design rides at Disneyland. Still think this would be totally rad!
Where do you gather inspiration?
I feel like I find inspiration all around me and from so many sources. I am constantly in awe of women who create things; who find their style, media, vision and are compelled to pursue it. Likewise, I feel inspired by beautiful clouds, architecture, great books, sunlight coming through windows, color and design. I could go on and on.
Do you have a daily ritual, and if so what is it?
I wish I had a daily ritual! But with two young kids my life doesn't always allow for it. My (almost) daily ritual is waking up- ideally before both kids are out of bed- and get a workout while listening to a favorite podcast.
