Photographer Roger Snider was recently commissioned to photograph Rebel Wilson for a new PSA campaign which launched in early February, 2023. The images offer a crash-course on concussions through a comedic lens. Wilson, who is an awareness advocate after suffering herself, brilliantly debunks concussion myths while wreaking havoc on set, accidentally releasing a python, shooting flames and launching a man into the air.
“This was such a fun shoot,” says Snider. “The idea was to photograph her on a complicated action movie set as she avoids near accidents along the way. She was such a sport and the gaffes were pretty silly.”
Health technology company Abbott and the Brain Injury Association of America (BIAA) joined forces with the comedian and actress to raise awareness about the seriousness of concussions in a new PSA, which just published online today. As the inaugural spokesperson of Concussion Awareness Now, a coalition of non-profits formed by Abbott and BIAA, Rebel is leading the charge to change how society views concussions. Often occurring as the result of everyday accidents such as slips and falls, more than half of suspected concussions are ignored.
